Multiple Computer Hook-Up: When connecting more than one computer to share the High Speed Internet service, the customer will need to purchase a router. The router allows multiple computers to access the Internet at the same time. Each computer will need an Ethernet card and a data cable to connect the router to the Ethernet card in each computer (if computers are in separate areas of your home or business, a data cable will need to be ran to connect your computers. Wireless routers and Wireless cards are available and may be a good option to running new data cables in some instances). South Slope requires that you have surge protection for both the electrical and telephone line connections of the modem to protect from power surges and lightning. We also highly suggest that you have a firewall (software or hardware) installed to protect yourself from hackers accessing your computer. A router gives firewall protection as well as software from companies such as Zone Alarm (zonealarm.com). South Slope takes NO responsibility for the protection of or lack of protection from any firewall source. Customers are solely responsible for equipment/software and installation of equipment/software.
