IOWA'S DIALING PLAN
You are required to dial 1 + the area code +
the seven digit phone number on all long distance calls, including those
made within your own area code. Dialing of local calls is not affected. This
dialing pattern is required to make new area codes available to meet the
increasing demand for telephone numbers throughout the United States and
Canada.

CASUAL CALLING
Once you pick a carrier, that is
automatically selected for you when you call long distance. You may casual
call using one of the other carriers by dialing:
10 + 1 + (Carrier ID) -(Area Code, if
necessary) -Telephone Number.
(The carrier ID is the number under the CIC
column above).
*A surcharge may apply for casual calls from
some carriers.
