After spending more than 30 years in the food manufacturing industry, Karey turned his attention to something much closer to home: Oxford, Iowa. Today, that passion comes to life at The Annex Tweaked Too, a one-of-a-kind shop in the heart of downtown Oxford.

Walking into The Annex Tweaked Too isn’t your typical shopping experience. The store is filled with an eclectic mix of imports, vintage finds, greeting cards, candles, whimsical gifts, holistic items and products from local artisans.

But what makes The Annex special isn’t just what Karey finds. It’s how he brings it all together. Merchandise is thoughtfully arranged throughout multiple rooms, turning a trip to the store into an experience built around discovering something unexpected.

Karey’s investment in Oxford goes well beyond his storefront. As a member of the City of Oxford’s Visioning Committee, he has been actively involved in thinking about the community’s future. That makes supporting local more than a business philosophy. It’s personal.

It’s also something Karey and South Slope have in common.

South Slope has served Eastern Iowa for more than six decades. South Slope’s co-op model means South Slope reinvests locally in the infrastructure and communities it serves.
