Grants and Scholarships

To serve the community, you have to know the community. At South Slope we pride ourselves on being an active member of the communities we serve.

Scholarship Programs

Iowa Communications Alliance Traditional Scholarship (ICA) – The Iowa Communications Alliance is pleased to announce the availability of one college scholarship to high school seniors, payable at $1,500 per year for up to four years (up to $6,000 total). The ICA mission is to assist students from rural areas across Iowa with financial assistance to pursue higher education and to stay in rural Iowa after graduation.

Iowa Communications Alliance Member Scholarship (ICA) – Along with the traditional scholarship, ICA now has one scholarship available to any high school senior whose parent or guardian is currently employed by an Iowa Communications Alliance Member Company! This is a new benefit to ICA members and their families. This scholarship will be payable at $1,500 per year for up to four years (up to $6,000 total). Please note that all identifying information relating applicants shall remain anonymous from Scholarship Committee while in review.

Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) – FRS awards up to 30 one-time scholarships of $2,500 to students from rural America for their first year of college. FRS funds $2,000 of the scholarship and South Slope funds an additional $500.

Aureon (Formerly Iowa Network Services) – Aureon has established the Aureon Scholarship Program for students pursuing a STEM-related course of study. High school juniors and graduating seniors within the 2017-2018 school year are eligible. Scholarship awards range from $1,000- $3,000 and will be offered to students who have outstanding academic and achievement records.

Grant Programs

South Slope and Aureon (formerly Iowa Network Services – INS) are proud to offer a charity grant program available to any nonprofit in the South Slope service area. Awards range from $250-$1,500 from Aureon and South Slope will match up to $1,000. Grants are awarded quarterly and the decision on grant awardees and amounts are made by an independent Aureon Charity Grant Committee. Grant funds cannot be used to cover operating expenses and must be used toward a tangible item.

The Foundation for Rural Service provides grants for programs in rural communities served by NTCA members, such as South Slope. The grant supports local efforts to build and sustain a high quality of life in rural America. Applicants may request grants in the range of $250 to $5,000. Grant applications are available mid-year on the FRS website.
