South Slope presents local non-profits with grants

South Slope Cooperative and Aureon are pleased to announce that matching charity grants have been awarded to North Bend Elementary Parent Teacher Group, Team Breast Friends, North Liberty Community Betterment and Coralville Community Food Pantry. Upon reviewing an abundance of applications, the Aureon Charity Grant Committee delegated funds to projects committed to the betterment of local Iowan communities.
South Slope and Aureon awarded the following grants at the South Slope office on December 18, 2017:
North Bend Elementary Parent Teacher Group – $2500
The North Bend Elementary Parent Teacher Group will put these funds towards a handicap-accessible, inclusive, and sensory playground. This project allows children with disabilities within North Bend Elementary and the City of North Liberty to have the same opportunities for active play as children who do not have a disability.
Team Best Friends – $2000
The mission of Team Breast Friends is to make a positive difference for people impacted by breast cancer. They are helping to fill in the financial gaps for the under insured and uninsured, by paying for mammograms and other diagnostic treatments. All funds raised by Team Breast Friends go to patients and stay local in the Corridor.
Coralville Community Food Pantry – $500
Coralville Community Food Pantry will use their grant funds to purchase a laptop for its Executive Director. The new computer will assist the Coralville Community Food Pantry with its mission of striving to be a reliable safety net and support system for those in Coralville facing hunger.
North Liberty Community Betterment – $400
North Liberty Community Betterment will use their funds to provide a free Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Thanks to South Slope employee, Amanda Engstrom, for leading this meaningful program which served a record 105 people in 2017.
Grant applications are available at www.southslope.com/grants. Aureon awards range from $250 to $1,500 and up to $1,000 is matched by South Slope. Grants are awarded quarterly and amounts are determined by an independent charity grant committee.
