DTV
CONSUMER EDUCATION NOTICE
On
or before June 12, 2009, full-power analog broadcasting will end. After
that date, a television
receiver
with only an analog broadcast tuner will require a converter box to
receive full power
over-the-air
broadcasts with an antenna because of the Nation's transition to
digital
broadcasting.
Analog-only TVs should continue to work to receive low power, Class
A or
translator
television stations and with cable and satellite TV services, gaming
consoles, VCRs,
DVD
players and similar products.
Analog-only television sets not connected to a cable, satellite or
other multi-channel video
programming
distributor (MVPD) service may require additional equipment (such as
a digital-to-
analog
converter box) or may need to be replaced. The transition should
have no impact on
your
access to cable or MVPD service provided by South Slope Cooperative.
Information about the DTV transition is available from www.DTV.gov;
www.dtvtransition.org;
or
from South Slope by calling (319) 626-2211. Additional information
about subsidized coupons for digital-to-analog converter boxes can
be found at www.dtv2009.gov or
1-888-DTV-2009.

Save charges for
second line used for fax available to South Slope members.
South Slope offers two options allowing
our members to save on their monthly phone bills. If you have
a second phone line used occasionally for faxing, you may want to
consider our Secondary Directory Number feature. This feature
allows you to have a separate phone number that uses your main line
dial-tone, but rings different than your main number. This
distinctive ring may be programmed into most fax machines so that
when a fax is sent using the distinctive ring number, your fax
machine automatically answers this call and receives your fax.
This feature is just $3.00 per month and will save you over $17.00
per month on your phone bill.
The second option is to use South Slope Voice Mail
with Fax Option. This feature allows customers that receive
faxes but don't want the expense of a second line to have voice
calls and fax calls received by their main number even when they are
not available. If a fax comes in when you are not home, your
voice mail will receive both voice messages and faxes. Once
you return, you simply call your voice mail, listen to your voice
messages and download your faxes to your fax machine. Cost of this
service is just $1.00 per month to add to existing voice mail
service.
