South Slope Provides Matching Grants to Support Local Organizations

October 10, 2023

South Slope Cooperative Communications and Aureon are pleased to announce that matching charity grants have been awarded to Running the Race Horse Ranch, the North Liberty Community Pantry and Safe Haven of Iowa County. The Aureon Charity Grant Committee delegates funds to projects committed to the betterment of local communities.

Running the Race Horse Ranch will use their grant funds to raise money for the purchase of a new pasture fence. Located in Fairfax, Running the Race Horse Ranch is a place where kids who have been victims of abuse work with rescued horses to foster new life and hope.

The North Liberty Community Pantry will use their grant funds to purchase shelf-stable milk as it reduces milk spoilage and is a good source of nutrients. Milk is one of the most important and requested items for families to meet their daily nutritional needs. The pantry purchases shelf-stable milk, which is processed using ultra-high temperature pasteurization, that enables it to stay on a pantry shelf for up to six months.

Safe Haven of Iowa County will use their grant funds to purchase essential vaccines for the young pets in their care. Many of the pets brought to the shelter have never received vaccines and protecting them against deadly diseases at a young age is vital for young dogs and cats to live out their best and healthiest lives.
