August Business Spotlight: Frontier Co-Op

This month’s Business Spotlight is on Frontier Co-op in Norway.

Founded in 1976, Frontier Co-op offers a full line of products for natural living under the Frontier Co-op, Simply Organic® and Aura Cacia® brands. Products include culinary herbs, spices and baking flavors; bulk herbs and spices; and aromatherapy products with a wide selection of organics. Frontier Co-op’s goal is to provide consumers with the highest-quality products while supporting and promoting social and environmental responsibility.

Governed by their more than 50,000 member-owners, the co-op is driven by their purpose statement: Doing Good, Works. From their Well Earth impact sourcing program through which they fund projects to help improve the lives of workers and farmers along their supply chain, to their award-winning Breaking Down Barriers to Employment initiative which strives to address systemic barriers to employment and economic stability faced by their employees and members of their community, the co-op lives their purpose every day.

Annually, the co-op contributes roughly $1 million to partners and non-profits across the country and around the world dedicated to fighting food insecurity, helping women make transformational changes in their lives, advancing research and education related to organic and sustainable farming practices, and improving the lives of those in their communities.

Frontier shares how reliable internet is essential to their operations. “We use many systems and services that are cloud delivered. If we can’t access those systems our team’s productivity can be severely impacted,” said Rick Ledford, IT Infrastructure and Operations Manager. “We need to know with certainty that when our employees get to work, they’ll be able to quickly access our business applications, and effectively communicate with our customers, partners, vendors, and be a part of the online community. Today we also have a significant remote workforce and they need to be able to work with our resources and their co-workers without impediment. For us ‘Ridiculously Reliable Internet’ is a not just a tagline, it is a must!”
