South Slope Provides Matching Charity Grants to Local Nonprofits

February 24, 2021

South Slope Cooperative Communications and Aureon are pleased to announce that matching charity grants have been awarded to the North Liberty Betterment Organization and the North Liberty Community Pantry. The Aureon Charity Grant Committee reviews an abundance of applications, but they carefully delegate funds to projects committed to the betterment of local communities.

North Liberty Betterment Organization will use this funding to purchase food for their annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner. This group of local volunteers puts together a very special holiday meal for anyone in need who may not be able to afford it in the North Liberty area. A free meal makes a huge difference for those in need, especially during the holiday season.

The North Liberty Community Pantry will use their grant money to fund their spring socks and underwear distribution. This project is important for the health and well-being of struggling families in our community. Socks and underwear are often the last items of clothing to be purchased when funds are short. This special project will help supply items to families in March, and also begin a new program to have these items available year round at the Pantry.

Grant applications are available at www.southslope.com/grants. Grants are awarded quarterly and amounts are determined by an independent charity grant committee.
